Post-Treatment Biocellulose Masks | Velež Provider Guide
Share
A post-treatment biocellulose mask can add cooling hydration to an aftercare plan following selected laser and energy-based procedures. For providers, the key is choosing a suitable product, confirming when it can be applied, and explaining how the patient should use it.
Velež’s provider utility chart prioritizes masks after ablative lasers, non-ablative lasers, and radiofrequency (RF) treatments. After IPL, vascular lasers, and hair or tattoo removal, it recommends selecting patients based on sensitivity. This guide translates that provider feedback into practical considerations for your clinic.
What is a biocellulose mask
Biocellulose is a fine cellulose fiber material used to make flexible masks that hold water against the skin. The Velež Intense Hydration Face Mask is a self-adhering format designed for cooling hydration. The Neck & Body Mask provides a separate format for suitable areas beyond the face. Choose the product by its intended application area, ingredients, and directions.
Choosing a post procedure mask by treatment
Use the chart below to plan where a post-procedure mask may fit into your practice. The recommendations in the Utility Chart reflect Velež provider feedback; application still depends on the treatment settings, skin condition, and current product labeling. It should be noted that the Velež post-treatment masks are sterile with no actives, preservatives, or additives allowing them to be used without risk of irritation, or negative side-effects.

After ablative resurfacing or another procedure that compromises the skin barrier, confirm that mask use fits the prescribed wound-care plan. Continue any required post-treatment care.
How to apply a Velež biocellulose mask
1. Assess and prepare. Review relevant sensitivities, select the correct mask format, and check package integrity. Prepare the skin according to the procedure’s aftercare protocol.
2. Position gently. Remove the protective film and contour the mask to the intended area. Use only accompanying products approved for that patient’s post-treatment care.
3. Set the wear time. Velež directions specify 20–30 minutes, with extended wear up to two hours. Monitor comfort.
4. Remove and document. Remove the mask gently, discard after one use, and continue the prescribed aftercare. Record application time and the patient’s response.
Clinical evidence after laser and RF microneedling
A 2024 randomized split-face study evaluated a Velež SkinTech biotech cellulose mask in 15 patients: five receiving RF microneedling, five receiving non-ablative fractional laser treatment, and five receiving fully ablative Er:YAG resurfacing. At 30 minutes, the mask-treated side was cooler than the control side. All participants reported less heat and pain immediately after application.
Where hypochlorous acid spray fits into aftercare
Velež HOCl Hydrating Mist contains 120 ppm hypochlorous acid and uses bag-on-valve packaging. Providers can consider it as a separate misting step for hydration and refreshing comfort where appropriate under its labeling and the patient’s clinical plan.
For patients asking about hypochlorous acid spray after laser treatment, specify when to start, how often to apply it, and how it fits with other prescribed products. The mist should not be treated as a substitute for procedural antisepsis, medication, or wound dressings.
Questions providers and patients ask
Can a biocellulose mask be used after CO2 laser treatment?
Yes, the Velež biocellulose masks are an excellent choice after CO2 laser treatments due to their sterile nature and ability to cool skin immediately.
Can patients use a mask at home after RF microneedling?
Home use can be part of a clinician-directed plan. Provide the patient with the specific product, start time, application frequency, and wear duration.
Are Velež biocellulose masks reusable?
No. We encourage single use. Patients should discard a used mask and use a fresh one to avoid cross contamination.
Build a clear plan for care at home
Demonstrate placement and removal before the patient leaves. Write down the approved cleansing, moisturizing, and sun-protection steps, including when to introduce each product. Explain expected reactions and how to contact your practice if discomfort worsens or the skin responds unexpectedly. Procedure-specific instructions should guide home care. [1]
